During pregnancy, there is so much focus on preparing for your baby’s arrival. We spend months learning about birth, packing hospital bags and getting everything ready for this new little life.
Once baby arrives, it’s easy for mums to quietly put their own recovery to one side.
As a doula, Jodi has supported many women through pregnancy, birth and the months that follow. One thing she has seen time and time again is how much we underestimate what our bodies have been through and how much nourishment they need afterwards.
Postpartum is a season of healing, and just like pregnancy, it deserves time, patience and support.
Recovery looks different for every mother
Jodi often shares that postpartum was one of the most beautiful seasons of her life.
“I found postpartum a time of incredible joy and many magical moments which I’ll cherish for life. Accompanied with those wonderful experiences was exhaustion and fatigue, like I could have never imagined.”
Many mothers will relate to that feeling. The deep love for your baby exists alongside sleepless nights, changing hormones and the physical recovery from birth.
There is no right way to experience postpartum, and every mother’s journey will be different.
Why nourishment matters after birth
Birth asks so much of a woman’s body.
Whether your birth was straightforward or more complex, your body has been working incredibly hard throughout pregnancy, labour and those first weeks of caring for your baby.
As a doula, Jodi believes one of the greatest gifts we can give new mothers is permission to slow down and be cared for themselves.
In many traditional cultures, it’s believed that it takes nine months to grow a baby and another nine months for a mother’s body to recover from birth. While every woman’s recovery is unique, it’s a beautiful reminder that healing isn’t something we should expect to happen overnight.
Nourishing meals, adequate hydration, gentle movement when you’re ready, support from those around you and simple daily rituals can all become part of caring for yourself during this season.
Why we created our Postnatal Restorative Blend
Jodi created our Postnatal Restorative Blend to support women through those early months after birth.
Each certified organic herb was carefully selected to create a comforting blend traditionally used to support postpartum recovery, healthy hormone balance and a well-balanced breastmilk supply.
More than anything, we wanted this tea to become a small moment of care in your day. A warm cup that reminds you to pause, take a breath and nourish yourself while you’re busy caring for everyone else.
Be gentle and kind to yourself
There is no timeline for postpartum recovery.
Some days you’ll feel like yourself again, while other days can feel overwhelming. Both experiences are completely normal.
As Jodi so beautifully reminds every mum:
“Be gentle and kind to yourself.”
Motherhood asks so much of us, and you deserve the same love, care and nourishment that you so freely give to your baby.
